How do Google, ChatGPT, and DeepSeek handle sensitive topics? Find out which AI model is the most objective and how their approaches to sensitive queries differ.
With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), we are increasingly encountering tools that help us find information and generate content. A new study by SE Ranking focused on how these tools handle sensitive topics that fall into the “ Your Money or Your Life” (YMYL) category . This category includes topics that can have a significant impact on people’s lives, such as health, law, finance and politics. The research compared the responses of Google’s AI tools AI Overviews (AIO), ChatGPT and DeepSeek to 40 queries in these areas.
Different approaches to sensitive topics
The study revealed that the tools differ significantly in employment data how they approach sensitive topics. Each has its own unique response pattern that reflects different strategies and priorities. The finding that Google generates AI Overviews (AIO) for 51% of YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) queries, a slight increase from the October survey, suggests that Google is gradually expanding the use of this feature.
At the same time, however, Google’s selective approach is evident, particularly on political topics, where AI insights were only shown for one query. This may reflect Google’s caution in providing information on controversial topics, where the risk of misinformation and distortion is particularly high.
On the other hand, ChatGPT has a 100% response rate for YMYL searches, demonstrating its willingness to provide information even in sensitive areas. DeepSeek is closely behind with a 90% response rate. These differences in approach may reflect different strategies and priorities for individual companies.
