The deputy director of Distinctive Signs of this institution, Verónica Perea, points out that the registration of a sign that describes the characteristics of the product offered is not permitted.
"For example, if your product is chocolate, it cannot have the word sweet or cocoa as a trademark. We will not accept it," the official said.
The same thing happens with a brand belize number screening of shampoo, which cannot be called "anti-dandruff" because this is one of the benefits that the product offers, says Perea.
The Indecopi representative assures that if you submit an application for registration and within a few days another person tries to register the same trademark, both cases are evaluated, but your request will have priority because it is the first .
"Preference will be given to the first application that arrives. However, if it does not meet all the necessary requirements, the second application has a better chance of being recognized," he clarifies.
Indecopi also states that if you cannot go to an office of the entity to carry out the procedure and do not have time to fill out the forms online , you can send a third party to handle the procedure. To do so, you must provide a representative with a simple power of attorney. The signature of a notary is not required.

2. Data If there are no similar trademarks, submit a trademark registration application at the Indecopi headquarters.
