Storing payment orders and collection notices, whether from Sunat or municipalities, under the rug in some forgotten piece of furniture in the house does not erase debts.
Jorge Rodríguez, general manager of Amazon Taxes, reminds us that the tax collection agency has intensified its inspections, so we can no longer rely malaysia number screening on it and wait for the debts to expire or be forgiven.
The expert warns that the situation may be aggravated because both entities charge interest. Sunat , for example, has a monthly rate of 1.2% and despite what we might imagine, the accounting it does adds up every day of the year, not just business days, it notes.
WHY IT AFFECTS ME The Superintendency itself states that its operations have increased by more than 200%. What is it aiming for? Rodríguez comments that the emphasis is not on large companies, since they even have a Sunat employee on their premises.
The focus is on self-employed persons (natural persons with their own businesses) and SMEs. In the case of small businesses, for example, the common fault is the failure to declare monthly VAT and payroll. There are also those who, despite having declared, do not pay the corresponding amount for the year.
For self-employed workers, Sunat verifies the movement of the Financial Transaction Tax in their accounts and, based on this, estimates the amount to be paid for Income Tax (IR), Rodríguez said.
Therefore, he advises getting your accounting in order and, if you are not satisfied with the amount charged, file a challenge within the 20 business days established.
NOTE – Sunat can seize payments that a taxpayer is going to receive from clients or suppliers. Fines range from 50% of the unpaid tax to 100%.
