The spread of the coronavirus has had a major impact on the advertising ecosystem in 2020. One important change that has occurred is the increase in "advanced TV(※) viewing in the living room" due to stay-at-home consumption .

Meanwhile, Google is also steadily expanding its advertising reach to CTV. According to the official Google Marketing Platform blog, Display & Video 360's CTV advertising solution in the United States can reach 80% of CTV households, and 92% of CTVs with ad-based models .

Google recently released its second " Advanced TV Inventory Report . "

We analyzed data from 35 global TV partners using Google Ad Manager to summarize the actual usage of Advanced TV content. We used ad impression data from video partners connected to Google Ad Manager to analyze the viewing environment and advertising transaction trends for Advanced TV .

In order to make the content analyzed more "television-like," this study was limited to advertising impressions for commercials that occur within feature-length or episodic programs (single-episode programs).

In this article, I would like to highlight some of the more striking data points from the report.

*Advanced TV: A term referring to television content that has evolved from conventional linear TV (the classic system in which TV programs are broadcast on fixed times and channels). The IAB uses this term to refer to television viewing formats that do not involve terrestrial, cable, or satellite broadcasting (see A Guide to Advanced TV Targeting ).

Advanced TV continues to grow impressions across all devices, but CTV took the largest share in 2020.

Globally, CTV is number one, but the situation varies considerably by region, with CTV dominating in North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), while mobile dominates in APAC, and desktop takes the top spot in LATAM (Latin America).
